In 1973, a concerned and active community member, Bea Erickson, gathered seven key community members together with the common goal of creating a place where seniors on the coast could gather. The meeting was the culmination of over four years of exhaustive work by Bea: canvassing and interviewing her fellow seniors, learning about what their needs were and what activities and resources they were interested in.
Out of this dedication, the Bea Erickson Senior Center was born. Through the years it has been a place for creativity, companionship and community for many generations of seniors on the coast. Now known as Redwood Coast Seniors, it continues to be a bright, welcoming space where you can meet old friends or make new ones.
Job Description: Coordinates special events and fun center activities, including recruiting and coordinating volunteers. Sets priorities, directs, and evaluates the work of assigned volunteers. Trains other workers in the operation of activities and events. Provides responsible assistance to the Executive Director; coordinates the department’s activities. The primary responsibility is cleaning, washing dishes during food preparation and during lunch serving time. Also provides assistace to the food service staff. Week day, no evenings!
A Transit Vehicle Operator will operate medium-duty or small buses along a route while adhering to a timetable, and/or operate a paratransit bus providing door through door service, under a variety of weather conditions. Also, will assist clients with carrying groceries to their door as needed. Class C license with passenger endorsement required. Buses operate M-F from 8am to 3pm.
